I am a painter working in acrylic. Florals make up my main body of work, as I am repeatedly drawn to the subtle shifts in color and tiny details I notice when I observe each petal closely. I use vivid color and delicate brushwork to create movement in each piece. I work from photos & life.
My work reflects my love of nature and gardening. I aim to spend as much time as I can outdoors taking notes so that I can capture the colors, lighting, and feeling nature provides. I am also fascinated by color in general - how each color can evoke certain emotions, as well as how colors interact.
When it comes to painting, I am self-taught. I decided to pursue art after an elective drawing class in college - I was earning a degree in business. The class included sketching from life & art critique, and I saw myself improve greatly in six months. Since then I've been trying to paint daily.
