My process for creating begins with an energetic invitation: "how do I want the onlooker to feel when they look at this piece?" & lives in an intuitive, meditative space. I work with river artifacts, antiquities, wood, & rescued window panes to call in nature, place, and question space-time.
Infinite playful possibility lies within light. Shaped, distorted, & colored light transforms our relationship with luminosity from passive to active. By disrupting thought & gaze patterns, intentional light subtly calls into question the truths of our realities & invites a practice of curiosity.
My husband and I got rid of our living room furniture to bring my work out of the windowless basement, and built a studio out of cardboard - complete with a sliding cardboard door in an *attempt* to keep out the cat. I crafted my largest piece to date, Lady of the Delaware, in the cardboard studio.
