Benjamin Masters

Fiber :: Booth #31

Process

I make unique wallets, belts and bags out of up-cycled inner tubes, reclaimed billboards and industrial awnings. Each item is stitched with a one-of-a-kind bicycle powered sewing machine. I bring this 'Sew-Cycle' with me to demonstrate on.

Inspiration

In an era of rapid consumption, I am drawn to textiles that have been exhausted by their original purpose but retain a hidden road-worn story. Through these up-cycled goods, I hope to invite folks to reconsider the value of "broken" and to find beauty in the overlooked.

Fun Facts

I stitch each item using a one-of-a-kind 'Sew-Cycle' that I made myself. I brought it to life using a vintage 1950's Singer Sewing Machine and a 1970's Schwinn Exercise bike.
