I’m a Kenyan-born, self-taught artist who creates colorful, acrylic-on-canvas paintings in hues that are vibrant and worldly. Most of my work depicts the African people, wildlife, heritage, culture, traditions, and customs. Creating art is my favorite method of communication.
I find my creative process stimulated by color, textures, people, and nature. My painting begins long before I pick up a brush. I take time to cultivate inspiration, gather references and design a strong composition. Once the pieces fall into place, I feel empowered to bring the idea to life.
Painting for me is a process of constantly correcting my mistakes. I don’t think in terms of rendering an ear, an eye, or a teardrop. To me, it’s about getting down the colors, shapes, masses, direction, or texture that I’m observing.
