Glass

My Process

I start with my design. I cut the glass and set in place on a kiln shelf and fire. Some pieces start with making glass thru hot kiln fire to get the glass flowing. I use a tile saw to cut the piece. I use lap grinder to grind/polish the edges and a 2nd or 3rd firing to slump into the desired shape.

My Inspiration

My inspiration is nature, color, shapes. Everything I see I imagine making into glass. I especially love patterns and challenge myself to learn processes to create my glass. There are many amazing artists that also inspire me.

Fun Facts

I love to share w/my father’s nursing home residents my love of art. It requires me to cut/grind smooth many pieces to protect fingers but I come in with trays of glass, show them how to create their design and then fire their work. The smile on their faces from what they’ve created is heartwarming.
