I'm always asked if I've been to the places in my work. The answer is "no" because these places only exist in my mind moments before they're on the canvas. I start a painting with a basic idea, the subject, the colors I want to use and then it flows from there. The work becomes what it becomes.
The serenity of nature in it's many settings and the patrons who look at my work and tell me that it reminds them of a special moment in their lives. There is no greater compliment and nothing more inspiring.
I was once told at an art festival that my use of color "punches you in the eye" followed quickly by "in a good way!!! ". I laughed and said " Thank you?? ".
