The blanks I harvest for my turnings come from local trees that are at the end of there natural lives. Each is cut into blanks, turned oversize and allowed to slowly dry. Six to twelve months later each one is finished turned on my lathe to its final shape, sanded and coated with food safe finish.
Discovering what is beneath the Bark of any given log. I never know when Nature will surprise me. The difficulty is deciding how to present it.
When someone reminds me that they still use the Bowl they have for family dinners. Or hang the Ornaments year around.
