Making artwork is my way of understanding, or at least trying to understand, the world around me. I have focused on printmaking in recent years. I use linocuts and monoprints as a means of expressing myself because of the direct nature of relief prints and the immediacy of the graphic process.
I get inspiration from the news, current events, walking through town, and observing people, history, music, and literature. I often take themes that have been depicted in art throughout the centuries and put my own twist to those themes, attempting to show a historical incident in a contemporary way.
At times I hide images within the overall print that many people do not see until they examine the work closer.
