All driftwood used is collected from the Jersey shore. It is carefully cleaned to maintain the natural colors. It is then cut, sanded and sculpted to create original sustainable artwork. Driftwood wall art is created using wood glue. Villages are also painted and embellished. Sculptures are natural.
I find my inspiration in the natural beauty of driftwood. Each piece has a story to tell. Usually the wood has been in the ocean for a very long time. The ocean waves and life determine the look, shape and colors of each piece. That in itself is beautiful and amazing inspiration unlike any other.
I usually go to the beach looking for “special” pieces once a week. It’s like going on a treasure hunt every time and never gets boring. I might be one of a few people looking forward to a big storm after which I go on a bounty hunt.
