I throw all of my work using stoneware or porcelain clay. My pieces are then altered while wet, and finished with layered glaze before being fired in a gas kiln or 24 hour salt/soda woodfire kiln.
I work in clay because I am inspired by the way a well made piece of ceramics can be a functional part of your everyday life while simultaneously be a beautiful piece of art.
I leave raw clay (unglazed clay) in certain spots on each pot when I woodfire my pieces, so that you can see the pattern of the flames path as it moves throughout the kiln on the pottery surface.
