My work begins on the wheel before being altered and painted. I desire to make items that are beautiful and intriguing while also being pleasurable to use and can hold their own in the functional space of the home. My paintings are a way for me to tell and share stories that matter to me with others
Art history, historic ceramics, flora and fauna, the beautiful imperfections of nature, things I read and observe, things I experience and see in the world around me, people I meet or love. I think for artists everything can become an inspiration if we are open to it being so!
I am an art teacher, and teaching has opened my eyes to a completely different way of thinking about my work and process. It is one of the most beneficial ways I have grown in my studio practice!
