Process

I create wheel thrown and highly-altered functional wares featuring bas relief and sculpture out of porcelain clay. I fire to cone 6 oxidation using several glazing techniques exhibiting control in application juxtapose other areas where I layer glaze for surprising glaze reactions and movement.

Inspiration

Motifs are inspired by my personal adventures hiking and foraging, my spiritual connection to nature, married with a love for ornate details found in antiques. I particularly enjoy fusing functionality with sculpture, often referring to certain wares as functional sculpture.

Fun Facts

I use eco-friendly practices such as recycling clay, using rainwater, source green energy to fire my electric kiln, and create in small limited batches. All packaging and promotional materials are made of post-consumer and recyclable materials.
