Mixed Media (2D) :: Booth #82

Process

I source insects strictly from conservation farms/projects globally, perform traditional taxidermy, and combine them intentionally/artfully with vibrant, modern watercolors, gold leaf and handmade paper. They're one-of-a-kind pieces of natural history, hand-sealed to last forever with species IDed.

Inspiration

Color theory in the nature is an outstanding part of the world we live in; the textures, colors, patterns and camouflage found in the insect work are the pinnacle. The life cycle is so short that preserving them in an everlasting state of beauty became a goal. Each painting is made just for them.

Fun Facts

I once sneezed suddenly and blew about 20 butterflies into the air, only for them to "fly" back down onto my desk because they're nearly as light as air!
