I am a floral preservation artist. I dry and press flowers using regular presses with paper as well as heat presses on some occasions. Then I create different designs and arrangements with the flowers and their petals turning them into butterflies, mosaics, birds, and pressed bouquet arrangements.
I find constant inspiration in the flowers I work with. I am often surprised by how certain varieties change during the drying and pressing process. I have learned that you don't always see the true beauty of a flower until you take it apart to reveal all the different colors at its core.
Many of the flowers that I use, I take apart and dry the individual petals and once they are dry i reconstruct the flower, petal by petal. One flower can sometimes take a lot of time and patience to put back together, especially flowers like dahlias or peonies that can each have hundreds of petals.
