I create encaustic collages by hand painting vintage cotton and linen fabrics with watercolors. I cut and stitch the fabrics before brushing with hot wax. I carve into the wax and rub in oil paint to show texture. Details are added with stitching and addition of steel or copper wire.
The beautiful Pennsylvania landscape...from mountains to farmland, lakes and rivers. We travel through the state a lot and I am always observing. Dramatic skies, warm sunlight, changing seasons all offer inspiration.
I find some of my fabrics at antique shops.
