I work in both encaustic (hot wax) and oil and cold wax, starting with an underpainting or collage on a wood panel and building up layer by layer to add colors, shapes, textures, and embellishments to draw in the viewer and provide glimpses of hidden elements.
I am inspired by color combinations and forms found in nature, gardens, rural, and urban settings. I enjoy creating abstract pieces that invite the viewer to interpret them in their own way.
My work style is intuitive and I frequently have the most fun when it veers off mid-piece into a new unintended direction.
