Lisa Gallun

Mixed Media

My Process

Wax and Steel is the studio of the husband and wife team of Craig and Lisa Gallun. The Galluns recently moved to Bucks County from Denver, CO. Lisa works primarily with encaustic and cold wax and oil on cradled wood panels, incorporating monoprints, found objects, and mixed media. Craig fashions whimsical critters from recycled tin cans and scrap metal.

My Inspiration

Both Lisa and Craig find inspiration in nature. Lisa's work frequently includes elements of plants, birds, or sky, while Criag's tin animals bring a smile to the faces of passers-by.

Fun Facts

Encaustic is an ancient technique utilizing molten beeswax, resin, and pigment. The word comes from the Greek "enkaustikos" which means to burn in. Craig's talent can take a simple soup can and transform it into a magical creature.
