Matt Zimmerman, Betsy Zimmerman
We hand dig and lightly process LOCAL WILD clay from Bucks County to create our own unique clay body that gets fired in our wood kiln. Matt enjoys making all our glazes from scratch and explores glazes made with local clays, stones, shells and ashes. The wood kiln draws out the clays rich character.
Matt’s pottery forms and finish are inspired by a mix of Japanese wood fired and British stoneware traditions. Everyday our customers inspire us, like when they tell us with delight that they enjoy using our mug every morning and need to purchase another because their partner is stealing their own.
Matt has a passion for using local raw materials; after we fire the wood kiln we are left with a byproduct of wood ash. It is this very ash that we recycle to use in some of our glazes.
