I got started when I was teaching middle school science and found some old microscopes in a closet. They were obsolete, but too beautiful to throw away. To teach students about electricity, I had them wire them up as lamps, and they sold them to a local shop. From there, MG Custom Lighting was born!
I still have the very first lamp that I made. It was the prototype microscope lamp that I based the student lamps on. After that, my wife said, "You can only have so many lamps in the house, so time to sell them!"
