I throw nearly every piece by hand on a potter's wheel! I trim, handle, alter, sand, wax, and glaze every piece. Those items that aren't thrown on the wheel are hand-altered slabs draped over forms and I have a lot of fun playing with bright colors and curvy forms.
Oooooh. I'm inspired by so many things in nature: the ocean, the bright colors of a sunset, the rich colors of flowers blooming in spring and summer. I'm also drawn to more bulbous forms; I constantly create shapes, mainly my mugs, with a bit of lovable chub.
I started throwing pottery when I was fifteen, and have been selling since I was seventeen. I'm now twenty-six! And I still love making my art. There's nothing quite as soothing to my anxious mind.
