Original handmade monster prints created through traditional woodcut printmaking. Each piece begins as a hand-drawn illustration, which is then carved into a block of wood. The carved design is inked and carefully printed onto paper. The same designs are also screen-printed by hand onto garments.
I am inspired to channel my emotions into the monsters I create, transforming them into original characters. By giving form to my feelings through illustration, I’m able to release them from my mind and better understand myself.
I created the majority of my monster designs over the course of a year in 2022, when I was first introduced to woodcut printmaking. After taking an introductory college course in 2021, the medium became my primary focus, leading me to produce around 40 unique designs within a single year.
