I create layers of mixed media painted surfaces that are adhered to multi-levels of wood and or foam core. My goal is to show the inner lives of any sentient being and highlight the connection between them and the environment.
My ideas come from a wide range of sources such as poetry, music, lyrics, hiking, lakes, oceans, rivers, and botanical gardens. I often wonder if trees could talk, rivers could walk, lyrics could come to life...what would they say? That is what I want to paint.
I will sometimes use everyday objects to create a dimensional effect I crave, but can not duplicate with paint. The odd ball bearing or scrap of lace will find it's way into my work to create texture and feeling that paint can't.
