Process

Tiles designs are influenced by the Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Nouveau, and Japanese woodblock prints.Designs are hand drawn then transferred to clay.Tiles are hand carved.Techniques are press molding, Cuenca, sgraffito and bas relief.Tiles are painted with glazes and fired in an electric kiln.

Inspiration

It all started with collecting antique pottery and tiles from where my ancestors worked as potters. I study antique pottery and design. I combine my family history, horticulture background, and love of the natural world to create contemporary interpretations of ceramic tiles.

Fun Facts

I learned to make tile in Doylestown at The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works! I fell in love with everything Moravian while attending Del Val. I would sneak out of classes to take tours. Years later I took my first class at The Tile Works and today am a full time tile artist!
