An intentional balance of precision and fluidity are how I've learned to maintain my creative spirit. You'll find me jumping from pottery to painting, and then assembling mosaics to sculpting; I won't limit myself to one medium. I find my work grows the most when I exercise both instincts in tandem.
I find inspiration in the earth's geological processes, its ever-changing landscapes, and the issue of sustainability in the ceramic arts. These ideas, along with much experimentation, lead me to create ceramic glazes from seemingly mundane rocks, plants, clays, and shells that I forage from nature.
I strive to keep a closed loop system in my studio by repurposing ceramic materials whenever possible. Broken pottery is crushed up into fine grog that I add to my reclaimed clay or hand-cut into small pieces to be assembled into mosaic tiles. I even collect my glaze waste to mix into new glazes!
