Shikha Rungta

Fiber :: Booth #3

Process

I create vibrant textiles using woodblock printing and Shibori. Designed in my New Jersey studio, we support and work to empower artisans in India; each piece is handmade by traditional techniques. Shibori involves hand-stitched, dyed silk; Dabu uses clay resist block printing and natural dyes.

Inspiration

I grew up in Rajasthan, India, where the rhythm of hand-dyed cloth, carved blocks, and shared craft was part of daily life. These traditional textile practices shaped my way of seeing and creating, and they continue to inspire the stories I tell through fabric.

Fun Facts

No two pieces I make are ever the same. Many of the most beautiful colors appear by happy accident—shaped by weather, water, and time. Rain, sun, and humidity become quiet collaborators in every hand-dyed textile. That's the magic of small-batch hand dyeing.
