I start our process by drawing the designs for the pieces, which are converted into a digital file for the laser to cut my "canvases" out of wood. I paint the details on wood with acrylic paint, build frames for our signs, and at times use a rotary tool to add carved and rounded detail to the wood.
Our inspiration derives from wanting to create sunshine, as in making pieces that bring ourselves and others happiness. This venture began as a creative outlet for Stacy to make her own happiness as she dealt with depression. It continues to bring joy to see how our work creates sunshine for others!
Neither of us had an artistic background prior to starting Sunshine Created! All of our skills (digital design, acrylic painting, frame building, earring design, etc) have been developed as we go along, meaning there's always worth in attempting to follow your passions and visions.
