Blue Fox Studio creates hand-dyed Shibori accessories, clothing and home goods using Indigo dye. Owner Sue Fox Mitrano creates new and traditional Japanese patterns through folding, sewing, clamping and otherwise manipulating the fabric to produce one-of-a-kind pieces in a beautiful range of blues!
I'm inspired by the unique combination of control and surprise in Shibori dyeing! I have great respect for the masters that honed these techniques centuries ago. I love inventing new methods and the challenge of applying established techniques to non-traditional formats, such as an infinity scarf.
Indigo is the only natural blue dye in the world and, surprisingly, the blue color comes from the green leaves, not the flowers!
I will be hosting a presentation at the Bucks County Free Library on September 13 from 1pm - 2pm. The presentation will include videos demonstrating my process and an interactive activity related to Shibori techniques. Pre-registration is requested but not required at [email protected].
