My Process

Our work is all handmade functional stoneware microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. Most of the clay bodies we use are mined locally and are mixed right here in our studio. All of our glaze recipes are ours - we mix our own glazes and never use "store bought" glazes.

My Inspiration

To carry on the tradition here in the Seagrove area of North Carolina - the birthplace and capital of handmade pottery. We love to create utilitarian ware that is both functional and attractive. Reaching back to create pieces that were popular generations past and learning to create new items for an ever-changing world. Colors are our biggest inspiration - we create all of our glazes by careful research of available minerals that are food safe, as well as microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.

Fun Facts

We work in a medium that is quite messy - muddy tables covered in clay, the floors are constantly covered in clay dust and our glazing racks are constantly spattered in a notorious amount of glaze residue. We spend more time cleaning a mess than creating a piece of pottery. It's no fun to clean... but it is quite amusing to realize that you have to create such a mess to create something so beautiful.
